Russian tennis player Anna Kalinskaya noted that before the start of the Australian Open, she changed most of the team members and also began to monitor her nutrition.
At the Australian Open, Kalinskaya reached the quarterfinals, in which she lost to the Chinese representative Zheng Qingwen (7:6 (7:4), 3:6, 1:6).
– In Rome and Beijing 2023 I had the same injury – I didn’t fully recover. There was a long break between them – almost five months – but I really wanted to play and I was bored. I felt good in Rome, I trained a lot, probably even too much. That’s why the injury happened. And what’s more, bad luck – I was playing on clay, I ran awkwardly towards a shortened court and slipped.
After the injury, the physical trainer changed. Now I approach this more competently and I hope that everything remains like this in the future. Staying healthy is the goal this season. So that there are fewer refusals of matches, so that I can finish the match and feel good physically on the pitch. The physio has also changed. I am more careful in choosing a team. I pay particular attention to the warm-up. Especially since the injury. Exercises to prevent injuries to different parts of the body that might hurt – I warm them up a lot more often now.
I watch my diet more. I’m the type of person who can’t eat. I eat more often – I have reduced the breaks between meals. I also used to eat at regular intervals, now I try to consume something every four hours to have more strength. And more recovery: physiotherapy, massages and sleep,” Kalinskaya said as quoted by “Championship”.
