Andrei Rublev did not rule out that he could change his nationality

Russian tennis player Andrei Rublev did not rule out that he could change nationality.

– If we are talking about Wimbledon, then it would be acceptable for them if they changed their passports. Is this the solution? If we are talking about the fact that we will be completely banned from all tournaments, yes. If I want to continue my sports career, that’s one of the issues.

I want to believe that I will still play in the Olympics. I am extremely grateful that I managed to get the gold,” Rublev said in a video interview posted on Youtube channel Viktor Kravchenko.

The 24-year-old Russian is an Olympic champion (2020), winner of 14 ATP tournaments, and also owner of the Davis Cup (2021) and the ATP Cup (2021) within the Russian team.

On May 1, the ITF released a statement announcing that the organization’s board had decided to suspend ITF membership. It was alleged that the Russian team would not be able to participate in ITF team competitions and that the FTR would not vote at the ITF’s annual general meeting.
