After missing the first round, Rybakina defeated Danielle Collins in three sets in the second round. She then easily eliminated Kristina Bucha in the quarterfinals, winning 6-1, 6-4.
In the semifinals, Rybakina faced Russian Lyudmila Samsonova, against whom she lost all four matches. Elena got off to a good start, winning the first set 6-0.

In the personal meetings between Rybakina and Kasatkina, the score is 2-2. Elena won the last meeting of the 2023 Canadian Open in three sets.
