Four-time Olympic biathlon champion Alexander Tikhonov in a conversation with , he asked the tennis player Daria Kasatkina not to encourage Russian children to change sports citizenship, when, according to him, everyone is free to decide their future independently.
Kasatkina earlier in an interview admitted to having a non-traditional sexual orientation and spoke out in favor of a change in sports citizenship.
– Kasatkina advised Russian children to change sports citizenship. Is it right to make such calls?
– You don’t need to call. Honey, who made you an athlete? Russia created you. Decide your own fate and do not advise others. Everyone must make their own decision. Naturally, an athlete wants to participate in the World Championships and the Olympics, but I think this (the sanctions against Russia) will soon end with Ukraine, and everything will return to normal, and many will regret it.
Will they ask to come back?
– How many people went to America, to other countries, and then came back. We must create the conditions inside Russia, it is the richest country. And we have no right to disperse our staff. A lot of money is not going anywhere and they are not able to create conditions for their athletes – this is wrong. We had a lot of successes and we need to revive them.
– State Duma Deputy Roman Teryushkov said he saw Kasatkina’s remarks as “propaganda for the transfer of our athletes to the national teams of other countries, in fact, a crime against the State”. Isn’t that too much?
– That all relatives of senior officials be sent back to Russia. And whoever has daughters, who has sons – and all of them abroad.
