The sixth seeds lost to the Eri Hozumi/Makoto Ninomiya duo of Japan
Ukrainian tennis player Lyudmila Kichenok And Elena Ostapenko from Latvia lost in the first round of the doubles tournament WTA 1000 V Doha.
Lyudmila and Elena were seeded sixth. In the first round, the duo met with Japanese women Eri Hozumi and Makoto Ninomiya. The Ukrainian and Latvian lost in two sets.
The fight lasted one hour and 10 minutes. In two sets, Kichenok and Ostapenko made two breaks, but lost five games on their serves.
At the tournament in the capital of Qatar, Lyudmila’s sister, Nadezhda Kichenok, also competes in doubles. Paired with Anna Danilina from Kazakhstan, the Ukrainian will play against Demi Schours from the Netherlands and Louise Stefani from Brazil.
