In her first match, Kalinskaya was defeated by Czech tennis player Karolina Pliskova, a finalist in two Grand Slam tournaments and a former world number one. The final score of the match was 6:2, 6:7 (3:7), 4:6 in favor of Pliskova. The match lasted 2 hours and 15 minutes.
In the next round, Pliskova will meet another Russian tennis player, Anastasia Potapova, ranked 34th in the world rankings.
