Tsurenko: There were painful sensations in previous matches, but today the inflammation intensified and the pain became stronger

Lesya previously withdrew from the prestigious tournament in Doha due to an elbow injury

Ukrainian tennis player Lesya Tsurenko commented on her withdrawal from the tournament WTA 1000 in Doha. The reason for this was problems with the elbow, from which the Ukrainian had suffered before.

“Unfortunately, today I woke up with severe pain in my elbow. I felt this problem already from the first training session in Doha, because there is a very specific combination of Dunlop AO balls and a rough court on which the balls wear out very quickly. I had some pain in both of my matches here, but today the inflammation got worse and the pain got worse.”

“It’s a shame that I won’t be able to play, and I hope it won’t affect my schedule. Now I’ll start recovery – I know what I need to do, but it’s difficult to say how many days it will take. I will try to play in Dubai, and then I have tournaments in the USA,” summed up Lesya.

Let us remind you that Tsurenko was forced to withdraw from the third round match of the tournament in Doha (Qatar) today. Her opponent was supposed to be the former first racket of the world Naomi Osaka, who received a technical victory and advanced to the quarterfinals without a fight.

Earlier, Lesya beat Zeynep Sonmez from Turkey and the sixth racket of the world Ons Jabeur from Tunisia at the tournament in Doha.

In the WTA rankings, Tsurenko is ranked 37th, which is the fifth highest result among Ukrainians.
