Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal will not participate in the ATP 250 tournament in Doha next week.
Earlier, the Spaniard withdrew from the Australian Open due to an injury sustained during the Brisbane tournament. In January it became known that the former first racket of the world entered the tournament in Doha.
— I would really like to play in Doha, where the organizers and the wonderful Qatari fans have always been very supportive. Unfortunately, I’m not ready to compete and I won’t be able to come to Doha, where I really wanted to be, and play again after that unforgettable victory in 2014.
“I will focus on continuing the work to be ready for the Indian Wells tournament,” the 37-year-old Spaniard wrote on a social network.
Nadal almost completely missed the 2023 season, playing only four matches. He is a 22-time Grand Slam singles champion.
