Athletistic / Tennis. Latvian tennis player Elena Ostapenko found herself in another scandal. The 11th racket in the world, without explanation, refused to shake hands with Belarusian Victoria Azarenka after the third round match of the WTA-1000 tournament in Doha (Qatar).

After the match, in which Azarenka beat her opponent with a score of 6:0, 6:3, she traditionally went to the net to shake her opponent’s hand, but Ostapenko only handed her a racket in response. As a result, Azarenka was clearly surprised by the Latvian’s behavior and refused any contact with her.

Similar post-match stories have already happened during matches between Ukrainian tennis players and representatives of Russia and Belarus. It is not yet clear what provoked Ostapenko’s behavior.

In the next round of the tournament in the capital of Qatar, Victoria Azarenka will face the first racket in the world, Poland’s Iga Swiatek. She beat Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova in the 1/8 finals of the tournament.
