The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) reduced the suspension of the American tennis player Jenson Brooksby from 18 to 13 months, according to the ITIA website.
In October 2023, Brooksby was suspended for a year and a half for missing three doping tests in 12 months. The athlete filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), which provided new information into the circumstances in which Brooksby, 23, failed the tests.
“Based on a detailed review of the new information and after consultation with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), the ITIA has determined that the player’s degree of culpability for the anti-doping rule violation should be re-evaluated.
After a reassessment, the ITIA, WADA and the player’s representatives agreed that Brooksby’s culpability for breaking the rules was not as great as previously found by an independent tribunal, and that a penalty of 13 month was therefore appropriate, the report states.
So, Brooksby’s suspension will end on March 3. The American withdrew his appeal to the CAS.
Brooksby was ranked 33rd in the world rankings entering the 2022 season.
