The first trophy for the world ranking leader in the new season
The first racket of the world Iga Šwiętek won the tournament WTA 1000 in the capital of Qatar Doha.
The Polish tennis player met in the final with Elena Rybakina from Kazakhstan. The match lasted over two hours, almost an hour and a half of which was spent in the first game.
Swiatek lost two serves at the start of the match and was losing with a score of 1:4. However, she managed to return to the game and snatched victory in a tiebreaker (10:8). In the second set, she scored two breaks and won her first trophy of the new season.
At the tournament in Doha, three Ukrainians competed in singles. Lesya Tsurenko was unable to compete in the third round match with Naomi Osaka due to an elbow injury; Marta Kostyuk and Angelina Kalinina lost in the second round.
