Athletistic / Tennis. Former first racket of the world, Russian tennis player Yevgeny Kafelnikov said that he did not watch the series “The Boy’s Word. Blood on the Asphalt.” According to him, even in the 90s of the 20th century, he did not face crime in Russia.
“Nothing resonated with me while watching ‘The Boy’s Word’ because, believe it or not, I didn’t watch that show. And there were certainly fights in the streets in those years. Then , you had to defend your reputation, sometimes fighting, but I don’t remember very difficult moments.
In the 90s, I never encountered crime. I am absolutely sure that people who earned money through their own work, without stealing or doing anything bad, did not fall into such things. Although perhaps the racket also involved honest businessmen, I cannot say. Fortunately, it didn’t affect me – God saved me,” Kafelnikov said, as quoted by Sport-Express.
Eugene Kafelnikov turns 50 on February 18. He is the most successful tennis player in Russian history. During his career, Evgeniy won two victories in Grand Slam tournaments in singles (Roland Garros – 1996, Australian Open – 1999), four victories at TBS in doubles. In 2000, he brought Russia a gold medal at the Sydney Olympics. In 2019, Kafelnikov was enshrined in the International Tennis Hall of Fame.
