The Ukrainian, together with Gamarra Martins, lost to her recent partner Danilina in tandem with Zhang
Ukrainian tennis player Nadezhda Kichenok lost in the first round of the doubles tournament WTA 1000 in Dubai (UAE).
Nadezhda, who was paired with Ingrid Gamarra Martins from Brazil, lost to the duet Anna Danilina / Zhang Shuai (Kazakhstan / China) in two sets.
The fight lasted one hour and 17 minutes. In the first set, the Ukrainian and Brazilian lost 0:3 and 1:4, but managed to equalize the score, but in the tenth game they lost on their serve, missing two game balls. In the second game, Danilina and Zhang made two break points against one and celebrated the victory.
It’s interesting that at the last tournament, in the capital of Qatar, Doha, Danilina was Nadezhda’s partner. Then they, also in the first round, lost to fifth seeds Demi Schours from the Netherlands and Louise Stefani from Brazil.
Later today, Nadezhda’s sister, Lyudmila Kichenok, will perform at the tournament in Dubai, in her traditional tandem with Elena Ostapenko (Latvia).
Five Ukrainian tennis players will perform in singles. Lesya Tsurenko will fight with Belgian Elise Mertens today. Elina Svitolina and Angelina Kalinina, Marta Kostyuk and Dayana Yastremskaya will begin their journey tomorrow, and Elina and Angelina will play against each other.
