Kazakh tennis player Elena Rybakina refused to participate in the quarter-finals of the WTA 1000 tournament in Dubai due to a “gastrointestinal illness”, according to the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) website.
Rybakina’s opponent, the Italian Jasmine Paolini, thus reached the semi-finals of the WTA 1000 tournament for the first time, where she will face the winner of the pair Marketa Vondrousova (Czech Republic, 7) – Sorana Cirstea (Romania) .
