Russian tennis player Anna Kalinskaya said calm on court and aggressive play helped her beat world number one Iga Szwiatek of Poland in the semi-finals of the WTA tournament in Dubai.
On Friday, Kalinskaya defeated her opponent in straight sets with a score of 6:4, 6:4.
– She’s a great player. I knew that if I didn’t stay calm and aggressive, she would destroy me (laughs). That was my plan: stay aggressive, make her move a lot.
I’m happy to have won. She is incredible. I’m happy to have had the opportunity to play against her. I am sure that in the future we will meet several times on the court,” Klinskaya said in The Tennis Letter.
In the final of the WTA 1000 category tournament, the Russian will face the Italian Yasmine Paolini.
