US Open organizers have all but ruled out the possibility of Djokovic taking part in the tournament

On the eve of the multiple winner of the Grand Slam tournaments, the Serb Novak Djokovic was included in the preliminary list of participants for the US Open tennis championship. However, the tournament organizers released a statement all but ruling out Djokovic’s participation due to his stance on coronavirus vaccinations.

Djokovic has previously said he will not be vaccinated against coronavirus for a tournament in the United States, where a vaccination certificate is required.

– According to Grand Slam rules, all eligible players are automatically placed in the men’s and women’s singles main draw based on rankings 42 days before the first Monday of the tournament. The US Open does not have a mandate to vaccinate players, but it will respect the US government’s position on travel to the country by unvaccinated non-US citizens, the tournament said in a statement.

The US Open is scheduled to take place in New York from August 29 to September 11.
