The Ukrainian defeated Irene Burillo from Spain in three sets
Ukrainian tennis player Yulia Starodubtseva made it to the final qualifying tournament WTA 250 in American Austin.
Julia met with Irene Burillo from Spain. The three-set match lasted two and a half hours.
The Ukrainian easily won the first game, allowing her opponent to take only one game. The second set brought real drama – Starodubtseva was losing 0:5, but managed to level the score. However, the Spaniard achieved victory in the tiebreaker. In the third set, Yulia took two of her opponent’s serves, losing one of her own, and won the match.
In the qualifying final, Starodubtseva will play against Tereza Martincova from the Czech Republic. Let us note that another Ukrainian, Angelina Kalinina, who received the first seeding number, will compete in the main draw of the tournament in Austin. The winner of last year’s drawing is Marta Kostyuk, who decided not to defend this title.
