The Ukrainian lost to the Czech Martintsova in a 2-hour fight
Ukrainian tennis player Yulia Starodubtseva lost Tereza Martincova from the Czech Republic in the final qualifying tournament WTA 250 in American Austin. The fight lasted just over two hours.
In the first set, Yulia led 3:2 with a break, but gave her opponent two games on her serve – 3:6. The fate of the second game was decided in a tiebreaker. Martintsova managed to finish the match from the fifth match point.
Recently, Starodubtseva reached the quarter finals of the WTA 125 tournament in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, where she lost to the Australian representative, Tayla Preston. In the WTA rankings, the Ukrainian is in 135th position.
Let us note that another Ukrainian, Angelina Kalinina, who received the first seeding number, will compete in the main draw of the tournament in Austin. The winner of last year’s draw is Marta Kostyuk, who decided not to defend her title.
