Athletistic / Tennis. The press service of the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) has published an updated version of the ranking of the strongest singles tennis players on the planet. There were some notable changes in the top 10.
The Greek Maria Sakkari is back among the ten strongest tennis players on the circuit. She moved from 11th to 9th position. The Greek replaced Latvian Jelena Ostapenko in 10th place. Marketa Vondrousova from the Czech Republic and China’s Zhang Qingwen swapped places in the rankings – Marketa is now in 7th place, and Zhang is the eighth racket in the world.
The top three remained unchanged: the first racket in the world is the Polish Iga Swiatek, the second is the Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, and the American Cori Gauff occupies the third place.
The strongest female tennis player in Russia is Daria Kasatkina, who ranks 12th in the world rankings. Tokyo 2020 Olympic mixed doubles champion Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova moved from 24th to 25th position. This happened because she was promoted by her compatriot Anna Kalinskaya, who became number 24 in the world rankings for the first time in her career. Mirra Andreeva, 16, now occupies 37th place in the world rankings.
