Svitolina: Supporting Ukraine is my mission. We need to do everything possible to ensure our children have a future.

According to Elina, she changed a lot after the full-scale invasion

The first racket of Ukraine Elina Svitolina spoke about the importance of supporting Ukraine, her sports form and plans for the upcoming Olympics.

“[Поддержка Украины] – this is my mission. I devote a lot of time to this, but this is the least I can do for Ukrainian children and for the future. After starting a family, a lot has changed. After the full-scale invasion, priorities changed, many factors changed me. I have changed a lot and, I hope, for the better. And it’s not for me to judge. I spend a lot of time on my Foundation, my family and tennis. My schedule is busy. There is no time for rest, we need to work and do everything possible to help our country. So that our children have a future.”

“I’m in good shape now. I wouldn’t say it’s the best, but it’s pretty good. My back was really bothering me for several weeks. However, now I’m trying to do everything possible to get better for the American series.”

“Olympics? We are preparing and will fight for medals. Let’s see how everything turns out in Paris. We are very motivated.”

Let us remind you that Elina recently recovered from a back injury, due to which she prematurely completed the 1/8 finals match of the Australian Open 2024 with Linda Noskova. In the WTA rankings, the strongest Ukrainian tennis player occupies 17th place.

Svitolina’s compatriot and former colleague, former first racket of Ukraine Sergei Stakhovsky, as part of a joint event with Elina, spoke about how Ukrainian athletes are trying to fight the indifference of the world community and do their best to remind the world about the war in our country and the need to support Ukraine.

Immediately after the full-scale Russian invasion, Sergei joined the Ukrainian army and subsequently took part in hostilities.

Early in the morning of February 24, 2022, Russia fired rockets and aerial bombardment of most Ukrainian cities, and then launched a full-scale military invasion. The war against Russia has continued for the 735th day.
