Russian tennis player Andrei Rublev disqualified during the semi-finals of the ATP 500 tournament in Dubai for insulting the linesman.
In the semi-final, Rublev (2nd seed) faced a representative from Kazakhstan Alexandra Bublika (7). In the third set, with the end of the rally, after which the score became 6:5 in favor of Bublik, Rublev shouted at the line referee. Another linesman, who was nearby, heard an insult to his colleague in the athlete’s Russian speech and immediately turned to the chief referee and supervisor. A decision was made to disqualify Rublev.
After the incident, Bublik was ready to continue the meeting.
In the final of the tournament, Bublik will meet the winner of the match between Daniil Medvedev (Russia, 1) and Hugo Humbert (France, 5).
