Alejandro Tabilo had to run in the middle of the ATP 250 match in Santiago to stop the alarm on his phone ringing at a certain moment.
A very particular moment was experienced at ATP 250 of Santiago de Chilewhich was played in San Carlos de Apoquindo, during the rivalry between the two locals: Alejandro Tabilo and Tomás Barrios Vera. At an important moment of the meeting Tabilo’s cellphone rang so he was forced to interrupt the game. This caused laughter from the players and the public. Despite the interruption, he was able to defeat his compatriot 6-2, 7-5 and will face Luciano Darderi in the quarterfinals.
The second set is tied at 5-5 and Barrios Vera was 0-30 down on serve when the unexpected delay occurred, who, far from infuriating his rival, developed a moment of relaxation. Although it was an important moment of the match, Barrios Vera took it with humor when asked if it affected the final result: “No, no, I think it was already 0-30, right? I started that game badly, with a double fault. It was not a distraction, but it was incredible what happened to him, to hit him”.
When they asked Tabilo what triggered the sound on his cell phone, he explained: “This is the alarm I set for sleep.” While the ATP X account took advantage of the hilarious moment to joke: “Sorry, Alejandro Tabilo can’t answer the phone right now”. Tabilo tried to downplay the small incident at the conference: “Yes, alarm, I always have that time, it was a key moment. My mistake, I should have turned it off”.
