Tennis player from Kazakhstan Alexander Bublik commented on the Russian’s disqualification Andrei Rublev during their face-to-face in the semi-finals of the ATP 500 tournament in Dubai.
On Friday, Rublev was disqualified for insulting a judge. In the third set, with the end of the rally, after which the score became 6:5 in favor of Bublik, Rublev shouted at the line referee. Another linesman, who was nearby, heard an insult to his colleague in the athlete’s Russian speech and immediately turned to the chief referee and supervisor.
“I highly doubt Rublev said something crazy.” He’s not that kind of guy. But I guess those are the rules. Officials simply follow them and follow procedure.
It’s a shame it ended like this. I want Andrey to return to his duties as soon as possible,” Bublik said at a press conference.
According to the regulations, after being suspended, Rublev will lose all points earned and prize money from the tournament.
In the final of the competition, Bublik will meet the winner of the match Daniil Medvedev (Russia, 1) – Hugo Humbert (France, 5).
