The fierce fight lasted more than two hours
Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk reached the semi-finals of the tournament WTA 500 in American San Diego.
In a three-set match, the Ukrainian was able to break the resistance of her “neutral” opponent Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. The meeting lasted two hours and 14 minutes.
The match began with four consecutive lost innings. Before the end of the first set, Pavlyuchenkova managed to make four breaks and took the game.
Marta managed to turn the game around and converted the set point on the fifth attempt with the score 5:4. The third batch was no less combative. Kostyuk again never conceded on her serve, while twice taking away someone else’s. The result is a strong-willed victory and the first semi-final at the ATP level in a year.
In the semifinals of the tournament, Kostyuk will play against first seeded Jessica Pegula.
