Athletistic / Tennis. French tennis player Adrian Mannarino (19th racket in the world) joked about the scandalous incident that occurred in the semi-final of the ATP-500 tournament in Dubai (UAE). During the third set, the Olympic mixed doubles champion, Russian Andrey Rublev (number five in the world ranking), was disqualified.
“Oh my God, he came out and swung! I’m not sure in 2024 John McEnroe could have finished even a few matches,” Mannarino wrote on his social media page.
To reach the final of the tournament in the Emirates, Andrey Rublev competed with Alexander Bublik from Kazakhstan. The Russian was sent off when the score was 5:6 in the deciding set for insulting the line referee. Moreover, it was not the judge who learned the swearing, but another line referee, who himself speaks Russian.
