Tabilo regrets the defeat in the final of the Chile Open, but does not give up: “Now I am going to Indian Wells; A long tour is coming”

The national tennis player did not hide his sadness, but assures that he will not let his guard down and that he is already focusing on the next goals.

Alejandro Tabilo was close to adding his second title at the ATP level. The national reached the final of the Chile Open, but succumbed to Sebastián Báez 6-3, 0-6 and 4-6. After the engagement, he made no secret of his frustration with the outcome. “I’m a little sad, obviously I was close. We have to learn from this defeat, it’s very hard, but every week I take revenge.” he told TNT Sports.

Beyond the defeat in the definition, it was a great week for the national tennis player, who managed to climb into the top 40 of the world rankings (he will wake up this Monday in 39th place), so he is already considering his future within the elite. “Now I’m going to go to Indian Wells, which is another tournament, and then comes a long tour. You can’t always win, now I’m going to continue working with my head held high,” he said.

He also spoke of the support of the Santiago crowd, who were excited at the end, when he managed to break Báez and get closer on the scoreboard when it seemed like the third set was ending quickly. “The energy of the people helped me a lot. They have always believed in me and supported me, it is appreciated,” he noted.

“I hope that one day I can win this championship, which is very nice” added Tabilo, to refer to the ATP 250 in the capital.

Finally, regarding his next challenges, the country’s number 2 assures that he will seek not to let his guard down this season, during which he made the best start of his career. “Now I stay focused, healthy and try to do my best. “I go from competition to competition every week,” he emphasized.
