Athletistic/Tennis. Olympic doubles champion Elena Vesnina shared information about her recovery process in an interview with Sport-Express.

“The problems with the Achilles tendon started around February 10-12, but I didn’t attach much importance to it, thinking it was just a muscle strain. However, upon further examination, it turned out that I had inflammation and would need at least two weeks to recover. Currently I have reduced the load on the field, but I continue to train in the gym. I am currently not allowed to run to avoid overloading my Achilles tendon. However, next week I plan to resume training on the field,” Vesnina said.

She also shared her plans to return to competition.

“I hope to be back competing closer to April. A training camp is planned in Türkiye with our team in April. After this training camp, a series of clay court tournaments will begin, where I plan to return to the game. Playing on clay will put a gentler load on the Achilles tendon, which will help me enter smoothly in the rhythm of the game,” added Vesnina.

The 37-year-old tennis player announced her return to the tennis tour on December 28.
