Former world number nine Andrei Chesnokov told that he was very pleased with the admission of Russian tennis players to the Paris Olympics in all categories, albeit in a neutral status.
On Wednesday, the International Tennis Federation (ITF) announced that it had allowed Russian and Belarusian tennis players to participate in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris as neutral athletes.
– It’s super-duper and awesome! It’s very good, I’m glad there’s some sort of humanity. Before that, someone said that pairs and mixed doubles were team competitions. We were admitted in all categories, it’s great.
I am very happy for the tennis players. I hope they will also allow ping pong and badminton players and other athletes. Thank God everything was decided this way and tennis will bring peace and friendship,” Chesnokov told .
The Paris Olympic Games will take place from July 26 to August 11.
