Honored Coach of the Russian Federation Vladimir Kamelzon told that he believes Russian tennis players will get the maximum quota to participate in the Paris Olympics.
Previously, the International Tennis Federation (ITF) decided to admit athletes from Russia and Belarus to the Paris Olympics with a neutral status. Each National Olympic Committee can receive up to 12 quotas (six each for men and six for women): four athletes in each of the singles, two pairs in each of the doubles and one pair in the mixed.
— Somewhere, little by little, people are starting to become aware of the reality that exists. There is nothing new in admission, regardless of the status, it is impossible to hide the country and talented guys. Not everyone who opposes Russia is enraged; apparently the ITF is using common sense.
The ITF’s decision is pleasing and entirely reasonable. It is easier for athletes to perform knowing that they will be able to compete in the Olympic Games, that they have their own fans supporting them in different countries.
I wish the guys a successful performance at the Games, I believe they will be able to choose the maximum quota, there is a chance for that,” Kamelzon told .
The selection for the Olympics will be made based on the audiences, which will be published on June 10, the day after the end of Roland Garros. To qualify, tennis players must meet ITF criteria, including the Davis Cup (men) and the Billie Jean King Cup (women). However, exceptions to the rules are possible.
The Paris Summer Olympics will take place from July 26 to August 11.
