The International Tennis Federation does not want to notice the crimes committed by the aggressor country.
Fans will be forced to watch the performances of the representatives of the aggressor countries in the Olympic tennis tournament. The International Tennis Federation allowed Russians and Belarusians to participate in competitions. This was stated in the official statement of the ITF.
The organization decided not to oppose the decision of the International Olympic and Paralympic Committee. The latter, we remember, allowed the representatives of the aggressor countries to speak in Paris under a neutral flag. This is exactly what the ITF justified their decision by allowing them in the tournament as neutral athletes.
The IOC and IPC will allow qualified athletes with Russian and Belarusian passports to participate in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games as Individual Neutral Athletes (AIN) and in the Paralympic Games as Neutral Paralympic Athletes (NPA).
The ITF has confirmed that tennis players from these countries will be allowed to participate in Olympic and Paralympic competitions as individual and neutral athletes, provided they comply with the IOC AIN Principles and the IPC NPA Principles.
Neutral athletes are required to meet the selection and eligibility requirements set out in the relevant ITF Rules.
The ITF’s decision is in line with most international federations (IF) for individual events and athletes competing at the 2024 Games in Paris this summer. The ITF’s position is also in line with the existing international tennis policy adopted in March 2022,” the statement said.
