Medvedev commented on the admission of Russian tennis players to the Olympic Games in neutral status

Russian tennis player Daniel Medvedev said he was ready to perform in singles and doubles at the 2024 Olympic Games after the decision on the admission of Russian tennis players to participate in the Paris Games.

Previously, the International Tennis Federation (ITF) decided to admit athletes from Russia and Belarus to the Paris Olympics with a neutral status.

– If I can, I will play it. I will play singles and doubles. I had an incredible experience at the Tokyo Olympics. It’s probably one of the most beautiful memories of my sporting life, which surprised me because in tennis we tend to think that the Grand Slams are more important.

As for the neutral flag, I will follow the rules. If the admission is under neutral flag, I will play under neutral flag and try to compete there, show good tennis and, of course, try to win,” Medvedev was quoted as saying by Reuters.

The selection for the Olympic Games will be made based on the audiences which will be published on June 10, the day after the end of Roland Garros. To qualify for a quota, tennis players must meet ITF criteria, including participation in the Davis Cup (for men) and the Billie Jean King Cup (for women). However, exceptions to the rules are possible.

The Paris Summer Olympics will take place from July 26 to August 11.
