World No. 1, 24-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic declared that his career, just like his sporting journey Rafael Nadal comes to the end.
Previously, the Spaniard withdrew from the tournament in Indian Wells (USA), as he did not have time to get back into shape after another injury.
“It’s very sad for the tournament that Rafa couldn’t play. He did everything he could to stay in shape.
Federer has retired and Nadal and I are not going to play forever. It’s the end of an era,” Marca quoted Djokovic as saying.
Switzerland’s Federer retired from the sport in September 2022.
Djokovic, Federer and Nadal are known as the “big three” of the tennis world, having dominated men’s singles for almost 20 years. Between 2003 and Federer’s retirement, the three of them won 63 Grand Slam tournaments.
