Early in the morning of March 9, she defeated American Taylor Townsend (world number 77) in three sets with a score of 7:5, 3:6, 6:4.
The tennis players spent 2 hours and 23 minutes on the court. During the match, Kalinskaya did not complete a single ace, made 10 errors on her serve and converted five breaks out of 18 break points. Townsend has five consecutive serves, a double fault and five successful break points out of 10 possible.
Kalinskaya’s next opponent at the Indian Wells tournament will be the 14th racket in the world, Italian Jasmine Paolini.
