Kamelzon believes that Russian tennis players will not sign a statement condemning the SVO to participate in the Olympic Games

Honored Coach of the Russian Federation Vladimir Kamelzon told that Russian tennis players are unlikely to sign the documents condemning the SVO, necessary to participate in the Paris Olympics.

On Thursday, the President of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC), Stanislav Pozdnyakov, said that Russian athletes could not receive equal conditions to participate in the Paris Games. He also noted that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) would individually contact Russian athletes wishing to participate in the Olympics.

— Vladimir Naumovich, what do you think of the words of the head of the ROC? What should athletes do who, it seems, were given the opportunity to make their own choice regarding their trip to Paris?

— I carefully study all the performances of Bach and his company. What they did to Russia is madness, a violation of the Olympic Charter and a thousand other violations.

Our tennis players are known all over the world, they participate in all competitions and everyone knows that they are Russian athletes, even if they do not have a flag. I don’t understand how guys can oppose the country. I believe that tennis players will not sign such a declaration for the IOC, but everything else can still be tolerated.

Does the IOC really think that Russian athletes will speak out against the CBO? It would be better for the IOC to eliminate bedbugs from Parisian hotels rather than forcing us to sign such papers,” Kamelzon told .

The IOC announced in December 2023 that it would allow Russian athletes who successfully qualified for the Olympics to have individual neutral status without a flag, anthem or other national symbol. The IOC also banned the participation of athletes associated with security forces or who have expressed support for the SVO. In February, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Igor Levitin said that Vladimir Putin instructed the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation and the Republic of China to prepare proposals for the participation of Russians in the Olympic Games .

The Olympic Games in the French capital will be held from July 26 to August 11.
