Athletistic / Tennis. The fourth racket in the world, the Russian Daniil Medvedev, lost last night to the Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz (second number in the ATP ranking) in the final of the Masters Series tournament in Indian Wells (USA). This extended the Russian’s losing streak by 28 years.
Medvedev lost his fifth consecutive ATP final. Daniil lost three times in decisive matches against the Italian Jannik Sinner (third racket in the world) and once against the Serbian Novak Djokovic (world leader) and Carlos Alcaraz. It is noteworthy that the Russian lost to Djokovic in the final of the US Open – 2023, and one of the defeats against Sinner occurred in the final of the Australian Open – 2024.
- Medvedev reacted ironically to Alcaraz’s defeat in the Masters final at Indian Wells
Note that the next meeting on the ATP circuit calendar is the Miami Masters (Florida, USA). In 2023, Daniil won. This season, the Russian will try to defend 1000 ranking points. It should be noted that then the tennis season will begin on clay and Daniil is less suitable for playing on this surface.
