ATP eyes Grass Masters tournament

ATP President Andrea Gaudenzi said the introduction of a grass-court tournament in the Masters category to the tour schedule was being considered.

— Our plan is to organize 10 Masters tournaments. There are three weeks between Roland-Garros and Wimbledon. Grass is the only surface that does not host a Masters tournament. As a general rule, the ATP board prefers to play in big, iconic cities, Tennis Magazin quotes Gaudenzi.

The ATP chief added that Germany and England were being considered for a new tournament. The ATP 500 in Halle Germany and the ATP 500 in London are generally considered candidates for such an event.
