First quarter:
Seeded players: (1) Carlos Alcaraz, (8) Hubert Hurkacz, (11) Grigor Dimitrov, (16) Ben Shelton, (19) Adrian Mannarino, (23) Lorenzo Musetti, (28) Sebastian Korda, (32) Borna Coric.
Expected quarter-finals: Carlos Alcaraz vs. Hubert Hurkacz.
Analysis: Carlos Alcaraz will begin his campaign against either Aleksandar Vukic or Roberto Carballes Baena in the second round. The Spaniard’s potential third-round opponents are Borna Coric and Gaël Monfils, but he should be able to defeat either of those two to advance to the fourth round, where he will likely have to face Ben Shelton.
Alcaraz is likely to defeat the American and secure a place in the quarter-finals of the Miami Open. On the other side of the draw is Hubert Hurkacz, who could face Sebastian Korda in the third round. The Pole should be able to reach the fourth round of the Miami Open, where he will most likely meet Grigor Dimitrov. It won’t be easy here for the Pole, but he still seems to be the favorite in this confrontation.
Prediction for the quarter-finals: Carlos Alcaraz will beat Hubert Hurkacz.
Second Quarter
Ranked players: (4) Alexander Zverev, (6) Holger Rune, (9) Alex de Minaur, (15) Karen Khachanov, (20) Francisco Cherundolo, (24) Jan-Lennard Struff, (26) Jiri Legecka, (31) Christopher Eubanks.
Expected quarter-finals: Alexander Zverev versus Holger Rune.
Analysis: Fourth seed Alexander Zverev is in this part of the draw and could face Felix Auger-Aliassime in the second round. The German is unlikely to have an easy time against the Canadian, but he will likely be able to advance to the third round, where he will likely face Christopher Eubanks.
In the fourth round, Zverev’s likely opponents are Karen Khachanov and Francisco Cherundolo.
Elsewhere in the quarter is sixth seed Holger Rune, who looks set for a strong performance in Miami after his quarterfinal performance at Indian Wells. The Dane could face Fabian Marozan and Jiri Legecka in the opening rounds, but should easily advance to the fourth round.
There, Rune will most likely face ninth seed Alex de Minaur, who has been in good form lately. Rune appears to be the favorite, but the Australian shouldn’t be ruled out.
Prediction for the quarter-finals: Holger Rune will beat Alexander Zverev.
Third quarter:
Ranked players: (3) Daniil Medvedev, (7) Casper Ruud, (12) Taylor Fritz, (14) Hugo Humbert, (18) Sebastian Baez, (22) Nicholas Harry, (27) Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, (30) Cameron Norrie.
Expected quarter-finals: Daniil Medvedev vs. Casper Ruud.
Analysis: Defending champion Daniil Medvedev hopes to win his second title in Miami this year. Last week, the Russian reached the final of the Indian Wells Masters tournament, where he lost to Carlos Alcaraz. Medvedev’s good form should allow him to easily advance to the fourth round, where he will most likely face Hugo Humbert or Sebastian Baez. Medvedev should be able to beat any of these players and reach the quarterfinals of the Miami Open.
The second half of this quarter features Casper Ruud, who has shown promising performances recently. The Norwegian reached the quarter-finals in Indian Wells and there is a good chance he will do the same in Miami.
Most likely, Casper Ruud will play against Taylor Fritz for a place in the quarterfinals.
Daniil Medvedev vs Casper Ruud, this match promises to be interesting, the Russian is the favorite.
Prediction for the quarter-finals: Daniil Medvedev will defeat Casper Ruud.
Fourth trimester:
Ranked players: (2) Jannik Sinner, (5) Andrey Rublev, (10) Stefanos Tsitsipas, (13) Tommy Paul, (17) Alexander Bublik, (21) Francis Tiafoe, (25) Tallon Grickspoor, (29) Thomas Martin Echeverry.
Expected quarter-finals: Jannik Sinner against Andrey Rublev.
Jannik Sinner is one of the favorites to win Miami and should easily advance to the fourth round. The Italian is playing perhaps the best tennis of his life and should reach the quarter-finals.
On the other side of the table are Andrey Rublev, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Tommy Paul. Paul reached the Indian Wells semi-finals, but it will most likely come down to Tsitsipas and Rublev for a place in the quarter-finals. The Greek is a formidable opponent, but given his recent form, Rublev should beat him.
The Russian will next face Sinner, who beat him in straight sets at the Australian Open earlier this year. There’s a good chance we could see a similar result in Miami.
Prediction for the quarter-finals: Jannik Sinner will beat Andrey Rublev.
Miami Open: semi-final and final predictions
The first scheduled semi-final will be between Carlos Alcaraz and Holger Rune. Alcaraz is doing better now and is expected to reach the final of the Miami Open. The second semi-final could be a rematch of last year’s final between Daniil Medvedev and Jannik Sinner, with the Italian having the advantage this time. This semi-final seems fairer, and Medvedev can win.
Expected end: Alcaraz – Sinner.
Predicted winner: Jannik Sinner.
