Athletistic / Tennis. Russian tennis player Anna Kalinskaya (25th racket in the world) beat Latvian Elena Ostapenko (10th number in the ATP ranking) last night in the 3rd round match of the WTA-1000 category tournament in Miami (USA). The match ended with a score of 6:3, 6:1 in favor of the Russian.
It is noteworthy that in less than three months in 2024, Kalinskaya has already won her fifth victory against players from the top 10 of the WTA rankings. Anna became only the fourth tennis player in the 21st century to manage to beat top 10 tennis players so many times in such a short time of the season, without being a top 20 player.
In February, at the WTA-1000 tournament in Dubai, Kalinskaya beat the Polish Iga Swiatek (1st racket in the world), the American Corey Gaiff (3rd number in the world ranking) and the same Jelena Ostapenko. And in January, at a tournament in Adelaide, the Russian broke the resistance of the Czech Barbora Krejcikova (at that time she was the 10th racket in the world).
It is interesting that in the 1/8 finals of the tournament in Miami, Anna Kalinskaya will fight with another representative of the world tennis elite – Greek Maria Sakkari (ninth racket in the world).
