“The desire to win remains the same” – Daniil Medvedev about the match with Kepfer and the 350th victory of his career

Russian tennis player Daniel Medvedev shared his emotions after beating German Dominik Köpfer in the quarterfinals of the Masters Series tournament in Miami.

Medvedev won his 350th victory at the ATP level. The Russian defeated his opponent in the fourth round of the Miami tournament with a score of 7:6 (7:5), 6:0.

— The opponent played very well and was close to winning in the first set. Slowdowns in the game occur, especially when you lose a game in a tiebreaker. Sometimes he’s lucky, sometimes not, he gave a lot of energy. I tried to take advantage of it at the start of the second set. The game was of a high level.

— You won the 350th victory of your career. Is the feeling of winning the first match different from now?

— I would say that before the match, the desire to win is the same, yesterday and today. But of course the feelings during and after the match are different. When I started my career and kept score, I started to shake and worry. Now, when I lead 5:1, I say to myself: well, I have a good advantage, I have to keep it and that’s it. The feeling of victory is therefore no longer as brilliant as before. But the desire to win remains the same,” Medvedev said, as quoted by Sky Sports.

In the quarter-finals of the tournament, the Russian will face the Chilean Nicolas Harry.
