Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova admitted that it was extremely difficult for her to play with an American Jessica Pegula in the quarter-finals of the WTA tournament in Miami, while her opponent performed wonderfully.
Alexandrova won with a score of 3:6, 6:4, 6:4.
“It was extremely difficult for me because Pegula played amazing.” In the third set there were sometimes plays where I didn’t know how to get the ball back, but it always came back. I just tried to earn every point, like I knew she would be everywhere and I had to do something. “I tried to wait and use all my opportunities,” Alexandrova said according to the WTA press service.
In the semifinals of the tournament, Alexandrova will play with another American representative, Danielle Collins, who defeated Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia.
