Athletistic / Tennis. Russian tennis player Ekaterina Alexandrova (15th racket in the world) failed in her first match at the WTA-500 tournament in Charleston (USA). In the second round of the clay court tournament, she lost to American Taylor Townsend (world number 68) in straight sets with a score of 5:7, 2:6.
The tennis players spent 1 hour and 37 minutes on the court. Alexandrova did not make a single ace during the match, made five errors on her serve and converted her only break point. Townsend made seven consecutive serves, not a single double fault and three breaks on seven break points.
Taylor Townsend’s next opponent at the Charleston tournament will be Belarusian former world number one Victoria Azarenka, currently ranked 26th in the WTA rankings.
Note that last week Ekaterina Alexandrova reached the semi-finals of the WTA-1000 tournament in Miami (USA). But he still played hard.
