Ukrainians reached the final of the doubles tournament in Charleston
Ukrainian tennis players Lyudmila and Nadezhda Kichenok commented on reaching the finals of the tournament WTA 500 in American Charleston.
“There’s really no secret. At the end of the match everything happened quickly and we just tried to stay focused. And I think that was the key because in the super tiebreaker everyone is tense. We just had to try to hit the ball as actively as possible, and here we are,” said Nadezhda.
“Oh, this is a great feeling. Especially when you play on the same side of the court with your sister. Yes, we enjoy it,” said Lyudmila.
The Ukrainians defeated the first seeds Nicole Melichar-Martinez (USA) and Ellen Perez (Australia) in the semifinals. Each duo won one set in tiebreakers; the Kichenok sisters were stronger in the super tiebreaker.
Let us remind you that in the quarterfinals the sisters beat Americans Madison Keys and Taylor Townsend. In the final, Lyudmila and Nadezhda will meet the winners of the match Ashlyn Kruger / Sloane Stephens – Eri Hozumi / Makoto Ninomiya.
