Athletistic/Tennis. Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz, third in the world rankings, refused to participate in the ATP-500 clay court tournament in Barcelona (Spain), which will be held from April 15 to 21. In the main draw, where he was to enter the field in the second round and play with the winner of the match between Luc Van Assche (France) and Zhang Zhizhen (China), his place will be taken by the lucky loser.

Previously, Alcaraz refused to participate in the Masters in Monte Carlo (Monaco): the athlete felt discomfort in his right hand during training before the start of the tournament and decided not to compete.

Alcaraz is the current Barcelona tournament champion. In 2023, he beats the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final. Despite the lack of participation and the loss of points, the Spanish tennis player will retain his third place in the ATP rankings.
