Andrey Rublev is working hard to get into the British Grand Slam tournament.

Russian tennis player Andrei Rublev proposed to the organizers of Wimbledon allow athletes from aggressor countries to compete.

According to the world’s eighth racket, the British could punish the Russians and Belarusians in other ways, for example, by transferring all the prize money they earned to help the victims of the war.

“We called some players and Wimbledon to discuss the situation and find a possible solution. Honestly, the reasons they gave were meaningless.

We offered Wimbledon – and I hope it makes sense and they think about it – will somehow be given a choice whether we want to play or not. And if there is a statement that we must sign, and in addition to give all the prize money for humanitarian assistance – to families, children who are suffering. I think this step will give anything, it will show that the British government is for peace and really wants to help in any way.

If you calculate plus or minus the amount, it will amount to a million pounds. And it’s a huge amount of money, which, I think, not a single sport has donated in two months. Tennis will be the first and only sport to donate that amount, and it’s thanks to Wimbledon. Then they get all the glory and respect – and the players don’t care about anyone. I think this is the right step, ”Rublev said.

Note that Andrei Rublev was one of the first to oppose the war in Ukraine. On February 25, after beating Hubert Hurkacz of Poland to reach the final of the ATP-500 tournament in Dubai, he approached the camera and wrote “No war, please” on it.
