Paired with Japanese Kato, the Ukrainian lost to the “neutral” duet of Pavlyuchenkova / Potapova
Ukrainian tennis player Nadezhda Kichenok paired with a Japanese woman Miyu Kato completed performances in the doubles tournament WTA 1000 in the capital of Spain Madrid.
The Ukrainian-Japanese duet at the 1/8 finals stage faced two Anastasias in a neutral status – Pavlyuchenkova and Potapova. The match lasted one hour and 10 minutes.
In the first game, Nadezhda and Miyu faced off on equal terms against two tennis players from the top 40 in the world rankings. But at a key moment, Kichenok and Kato lost the tenth game on their serve.
In the second set, the Ukrainian and Japanese players took the lead 1:0, but the fight didn’t work out any further – six games in a row remained with their rivals.
Let us remind you that Nadezhda’s sister, Lyudmila Kichenok, continues to perform in doubles in Madrid, who in tandem with Elena Ostapenko from Latvia reached the quarterfinals.
