In the quarter-finals of Wimbledon, Nadal beat Fritz 3:6, 7:5, 3:6, 7:5, 7:6 and advanced to the semi-finals, where he was supposed to play with the Australian Nick Kyrgios. However, before the semi-finals, Rafa announced that he could not participate in the match due to a torn abdominal muscle.
