Elina confidently beat France’s Parry
The first racket of Ukraine Elina Svitolina successfully started the tournament WTA 500 in French Strasbourgconfidently defeating a local tennis player in two sets Diane Parry.
The 61st racket of the world ranking began the match with a won game. But then Parry was unable to build on her success, and achieved only one break with three lost serves.
In the second set, Svitolina missed a match point with the score 5:2. The Frenchwoman managed to win two games, reducing the lead to a minimum. But the last word still went to the strongest athlete.
Svitolina in Strasbourg defends the championship title won last year. That triumph was the first for the Ukrainian after returning to the Tour. Elina paused her career due to pregnancy and the birth of her daughter. Previously, Svitolina won this tournament in 2020. In the second round, the strongest Ukrainian tennis player will meet with another representative of France, Clara Burel.
Let us remind you that earlier in Strasbourg Angelina Kalinina won her first round match. She managed to defeat the more rated “neutral” tennis player Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in three sets.
