In the second set, Katarina almost achieved a powerful comeback
Start of qualification French Open (Roland Garros) in the women’s bracket was noted for the Ukrainian confrontation. In him Yulia Starodubtseva managed to get the better of Katarina Zawatskaya in three sets.
The fight lasted two hours and 19 minutes, and was interrupted for some time due to rain.
Starodubtseva won the first round quite confidently – 6:3. In the second game she led 4:1, but then Zavatskaya took four sets in a row and was as close as possible to revenge on her serve, failing to convert four set points. In the end, it came to a tiebreaker. Yulia received a four-time match point at 6:1, and still converted it on the fourth attempt – 7:4.
Earlier today, Daria Snigur overcame this barrier and beat the Greek Despina Papamikhail. Previously, Katerina Beindl lost her match at the start of the Roland Garros qualification, and Vitaly Sachko failed to advance in the men’s bracket.
Let us remind you that five Ukrainians entered the main draw of Roland Garros. The first racket of Ukraine, Elina Svitolina, who received the 17th tournament number, will perform at the Grand Slam clay tournament. Also on the application list are Marta Kostyuk (No. 26), Angelina Kalinina (No. 32), Dayana Yastremskaya (No. 33) and Lesya Tsurenko (No. 41).
