The Ukrainian won the first set, but then lost two tiebreaks
Ukrainian tennis player Ilya Marchenko lost in the first round of the tournament ATP Challenger 100 in Slovak Bratislava.
Ilya lost to Austrian Lucas Neumeier in three sets. The intense duel lasted more than three hours.
In the first game, the Ukrainian lost with a score of 2:4, but managed to win four games in a row and take the set. In the second, Marchenko managed to make a break in the 11th game, but did not serve for the match and lost in the tiebreaker. In the decisive set, the tennis players took their serves, and again the Austrian was stronger in the tiebreaker.
Marchenko played his first match since mid-May, when he lost in the Challenger final in Taipei. In the updated ATP rankings, the Ukrainian ranks 216th.
