Olympic champion Alexander Zverev will not participate in the ATP 250 tennis tournament in Stuttgart, Germany, according to the social network’s competition page.
On Sunday, the 27-year-old German lost to Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz in the Roland Garros final with a score of 3:6, 6:2, 7:5, 1:6, 2:6.
“I played a lot of tennis in the last few weeks and reached the final in Paris, where I played five tough sets. “I feel that now my body is not ready to move from clay to grass,” Zverev was quoted as saying by the tournament press service.
Zverev is ranked fourth in the world and has 22 ATP singles titles to his name.
The Stuttgart tournament will end on June 16. Zverev was replaced in the main draw by Frenchman Richard Gasquet.
